Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026 · Version 1.0
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Sunder LLC ("Sunder," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of Thing City — our website at thingcity.net and our iOS application (together, the "Service").
By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
If you have any questions, please contact us at support@thingcity.net.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve our Service to you.
A. Information You Provide
Account Information: When you create an account by logging in with a third-party service (like Google or Apple), we collect personal information from that provider. This includes your email address, public-facing name, and (if available) your profile picture. We store this information to identify you within the Service.
B. Information We Collect Automatically
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service. This includes which screens you visit, the features you use, the time and date of your visits, and other diagnostic data. This data is used for analytics and to improve service stability. See Section 6 for the specific analytics tools we use and your choices about them.
Device Data: We automatically collect certain technical information, such as your browser and device type, operating system, and IP address (from which we may derive an approximate location). This is used for security, abuse prevention, and to keep the Service stable.
C. Content You Create
Public Content: We collect and store all the text, posts, lists, and other content you create, post, or share on the Service ("User Content").
3. The Public Nature of Your Content
Please be aware that all User Content you post to Thing City is public by default. This content can be viewed, shared, and indexed by other users and the public. You should have no expectation of privacy for any text or information you post within the Service. Please do not post any information you consider private or sensitive.
You may delete your individual User Content at any time. For information on what happens to your content when you delete your account, see Section 7.A.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for various purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and secure our Service
- To identify you as a user and display your profile and content
- To monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the Service (analytics)
- To prevent abuse and enforce our Terms & Conditions
- To respond to your support requests
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information in the following ways:
- Publicly: Your User Content and public profile (name, picture) are visible to everyone
- With Service Providers: We share data with third-party vendors who help us operate the Service — for example hosting, our backend platform, and the analytics providers named in Section 6. They are permitted to use the data only to provide services to us and are obligated to protect it
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety and rights of Sunder LLC or our users
6. Cookies & Analytics
We and our service providers use cookies, similar local-storage technologies, and analytics tools to operate the Service and understand how it is used.
A. Strictly Necessary
These are required for the Service to function and are always on. They include the cookies that keep you signed in and secure your session, and a setting that remembers your light or dark theme preference. Because they are essential to providing the Service, they do not require consent.
B. Analytics
To understand how the Service is used and to improve it, we use:
- Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) — measures page views, navigation, and aggregate usage patterns.
- Statsig (provided by Statsig, Inc.) — product analytics and feature measurement, such as which features are used and how navigation flows through the Service.
These analytics tools are not strictly necessary. Where the law requires consent (for example, in the EEA and the United Kingdom), we ask for your consent before loading them, and you can withdraw or change your choice at any time. These providers process data in the United States, and where we transfer personal data outside the EEA or UK we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies.
7. Your Privacy Rights & Choices
You have choices regarding the information we collect and how it's used.
A. Account Deletion & Your Data
You can delete your account at any time through the settings menu within the Service. This section explains what happens to your personal data when you do; for account states more generally — deactivation, suspension, and termination — see our Terms of Service, Section 9.
When you request deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period. If you do not cancel during that period, your account and associated personal information (such as your email address, name, and profile picture) are then permanently deleted.
Please note this important distinction between content and account:
- Deleting Content: You can delete your individual posts, lists, or other User Content at any time through the Service. This content is permanently removed.
- Deleting Your Account: When your account is deleted, your User Content (as defined in our Terms of Service) may remain visible on the Service, but it is anonymized — irreversibly disassociated from you, with your name and profile link removed — so that it no longer identifies you.
B. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA Notice)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction of it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@thingcity.net.
Your browser may let you send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We treat such a signal as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information.
C. European & UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have certain rights, including:
- The right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.
- The right to restrict or object to our processing of your data.
- The right to data portability (to receive a copy of your data).
- The right to withdraw consent at any time, where our processing is based on your consent.
- The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@thingcity.net.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. When you delete your account, your personal information is deleted at the end of the 30-day grace period described in Section 7.A. We may retain certain information for longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Anonymized data, which cannot be used to identify you, may be kept indefinitely for analytics.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children, and you must be at least 16 years old to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from someone under 16, we will take steps to delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the Service and updating the "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we may provide more prominent notice, such as an in-app notification or an email to you.
12. Contact Us
